Vote NO on Prop 1
This November, Wyomingites will have an opportunity to vote NO on Prop 1.
Prop 1 proposes a 50% cut in property taxes but has no plan for how to replace over $125 million in lost funding in year one. With annual increases, Wyoming will face $1.4 billion in lost funding over the next ten years.
There has to be a plan for how towns, cities, and counties will operate essential services for our communities and this measure leaves too many unanswered questions.
No plan is a bad plan.
Slashing property taxes by 50% will cause a massive revenue loss that will impact school districts, fire departments, emergency services, Weed and Pest districts, and other local government services.
The reality is that this plan is nothing more than a tax shift. The lost revenue will have to be made up somehow—like a new income tax or sales taxes.
This November, vote NO on Prop #1!
Last session ripped almost $200 million out of the budget with schools staring at a nearly $700 million deficit by 2030. If voters approve this, our local schools and emergency services will be on life support.
